WELCOME TO THE ASK NOT CHALLENGE
Our purpose is to unite the country and help those suffering and in need... we are ready to do our part to ...ask what we can do for the country.
ABOUT OUR CHALLENGE
THE ASK NOT CHALLENGE is a 2017 National Challenge designed to get a diverse group of successful people throughout our country working together to bring help to people who are suffering due to catastrophic situation.
The Ask Not Challenge was launched on 2-7-2017 by Dr. Matt Zerebny.
Our daughter, Palm Springs Police Officer Lesley Zerebny
Our Lesley had just returned from maternity leave with a 4 month old baby girl, Cora Rayne, when she was shot & killed in the line of duty.
To say we are heartbroken and devastated is an understatement.
Our family continues to be in the middle of a nightmare. We bounce between indescribable sorrow and grief and overwhelming gratitude for the outpouring of love towards our family.
Especially precious to us has been the support of thousands of law-enforcement officers and families from around the country and around the world.
LA County Sheriff alone sent 5,000 deputies to Officer Jose Gilbert "Gil" Vega and Lesley's memorial service in Palm Springs. There was over 18,000 people who attended their memorial.
I personally have been racking my brain as to how I could support other families who are going through the same horrific nightmare.
In some southern states in our country, the Law Enforcement Officers only make minimum wage and have no benefits at all. This is unimaginable in our country which is the wealthiest country in the world.
It is unimaginable to be going through the horrific grief that we are and then on top of that be in financial dire straits and run the risk of losing your house because your spouse or parent had been
killed in the line of duty and you no longer have their income.
I have decided that I cannot let this happen and I have to do something about it, so we have started the Cora Rayne Collection, a clothing company named after our grand-daughter, where half of the profits will be donated to families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty
and are going through the same tragedy as our family.
"My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
~ President John F. Kennedy
What Can You Do?
I'm also setting up The Ask Not Challenge based on President Kennedy's quote "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."
I'm going to be the first and will start the challenge to benefit other Americans...I'm choosing to help law enforcement families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
The challenge...I will reach out to three individuals or corporations and the challenge is for them to help partner and promote our project to benefit law enforcement families and then in addition they have to start their own new project to benefit other Americans, who they choose, and reach out to three individuals or corporations to partner and promote their project.
I have chosen Jessica Alba and the Honest Company, Tim and Gert Boyle and Columbia Sportswear Company, and Warren Buffett.
Our goal is to get a wave of momentum of the best people becoming unified and to help others instead of waiting for the politicians to do it ...I am tired of all the bickering coming from the politicians!
It's time for someone to do something and if that means it's me then I will step up and as JFK suggested do something for our country in the midst of our nightmare.
God willing, I will build a skyscraper of support for those in need,
on the ashes of my ruin, in the midst of my sorrow.
